A regular verb is when you can add an "ed" at the end of the word to make it past tense.

Examples:

jump - jumped
I jump in the pool when it is hot.
Do you jump in the pool when you are hot?
He jumps in the pool when he is hot.
She jumps in the pool when she is hot.
They jump in the pool when they are hot.
We jump in the ocean when we are hot.
I jumped in the lake because I was hot.

wash - washed
I wash my car on wednesdays.

smell - smelt/smelled

Irregular verbs are verbs that don't follow the same past tense ending as regular verbs.
