1. ancient
definition: Ancient is old. Ancient history is very old history.
definition: Ancient is thousands of years ago.
sentence: My great great great ancestors are ancient history.
sentence: When you visit Rome, you will learn a lot about ancient history.

2. in the meantime
definition: Doing something while waiting for something else.
sentence; I am waiting for my favorite television show to start, so in the meantime I completed my homework.
sentence: In the meantime while I am waiting for my clothes to dry, I am going to eat dinner.

3. clutter
definition: mess, a lot of things in one place that makes the place look messy
sentences: My teachers desk was cluttered with papers.
sentences: Danny's bedroom is cluttered with toys.

4. obvious / obviously
definition: easily understood
sentences: It was obvious Christina was sad, because we knew she lost her dog.
sentences: Obviously, if you are not paying attention to the teacher, you will not learn.

5. calm
definition: being calm is being relaxed.
definition: the opposite of anxious
sentences: Jason is calm when he is reading.
sentences: The doctor was calm while he was doing the surgery.

6. announced
definition: to call out, to make an announcement, to say what is happening out loud
sentences: The principal announced that school would be closing early.
sentences: The boss announced that everyone would be getting a pay raise.
sentences: The person who speaks at sports games is called the announcer because he announces the game.

7. meteorology / meterologist
definition: Meteorology is the study of weather.
definition: Meteorologist is the person who studies the weather.
definition: The meteorologist is the person on the television who tells you the weekly weather report.
sentence: The meteorologist said it was going to rain, but it didn't.
sentence: The meteorologist on channel four predicts the weather.

8. mysterious
definition: strange, weird
definition: a mystery, hard to understand
sentences: There were mysterious lights in the sky and nobody could explain them.
sentences: There was a mysterious disappearance at the supermarket, all the food disappeared.

9. fluid
definition: fluid is any liquid
definition: water, juice and soda are liquids.
sentences: When people are sick, they need to drink a lot of fluids.
sentences: When I get thirsty, I drink fluids to quench my thirst.

10. quench
definition: to get rid of thirst
sentences: When it is hot outside, I quench my thirst with water.
sentences: I quenched my thirst with juice.
