Japanese Adjectives Free Japanese Vocabulary Phrases

First got to explain a bit about literal meaning versus implied meaning in Japanese. Sometimes what you’re actually saying and how it’s received are very different things, so techinally while some of these things may seem awkwardly worded, the implied meaning is the closest I could match to the words andClose phrases.

Also, there isn’t really a plural form in Japanese, so I’ve left those out when they don’t apply.

ready -- junbi ga ii

wet -- bisshori

busy -- ishogashii

ripe -- kanjuku

The coffee is ready. – Koohii wo jyunbi shita/OR/ Koohii Douzo

The floor is wet. – Yukaga nureteiru.

The plant is dead. – Shokubutu ga karete iru.

The harbor is not busy. – Gyokou wa isogashikunai.

Mika-san is busy. –  Mika-san wa chotte isogashiig.
Kenji-kun was chotto isogashii. - Kenji-kun is busy.
(You very rarely refer to people by ‘he’ or 'she'. You say their name.)

The apple is ripe. – Ringo wa bisshori desu.

The apple is not ripe – Ringo wa bisshorikunai desu.

The food is delicious – Tabemono ga oishii.

strong - tsuyoi

deep -- fukai

dangerous -- abunai

distant/far -- tooi

The pool is deep. – Puuru wa fukai desu.

The river is dangerous. – Kawa wa abunai desu.

Mika-san is strong. Mika-san wa tsuyoi.
Kunji-kun is strong. - Kunji-kun wa tsuyoi.

The building is tall. – Biru wa takai desu.

The buildings are far. Biru wa tooi desu.

The city is crowded. – Machi wa kondeiru.

The rainbow is colorful – Niji ha iro ga ippai desu.

hot - atsui

spicy - karai

very delicious – sugoku oishii

ambitious - iyokuteki

annoying – jame na

pretty – kirei na

ugly – busu na

big/large – ookii

bored – tsumaranai
