¿Cómo estás? - When speaking to someone that is familiar or to a young child. ¿Cómo está? - When speaking to someone with respect or to someone you don't know. When describing yourself or others, the men need to use the masculine adjectives and
the women need to use the feminine adjectives.
Masculine adjectives end in an "o" and
Femnine adjectives end in an "a". Â

cansado (masculine) - tired
cansada (feminine) - tiredÂ
Estoy cansado. - I am tired. (masculine)
Estoy cansada. I am tired. (feminine)
Ella está cansada. - She is tired.
Él está cansado. - He is tired.

There are exceptions to the rule and when an adjective doesn't end in either an
"a" or an "o" the adjective will be used for either male or female.
Example of an adjective that does not end in an "a" or an "o".
triste - sad
because triste ends in an "e" it is used for both men and women.
Estoy triste. - I am sad. (feminine)
Estoy triste. - I am sad. (masculine)
