Estoy triste. - I am sad.
Note: "triste" is used for a feminine or masculine person.


Estoy contento. - I am happy. (masculine)
Estoy contenta. - I am happy. (feminine)

Yo tengo hambre. - I am hungry.
Tengo hambre. - I am hungry.
Note: "Yo tengo hambre." really translates to "I have hunger."

Yo tengo sed. - I am thirsty.
Tengo sed. - I'm thirsty.
Note: "Yo tengo sed." really translates to "I have thirst."

Yo tengo miedo. - I am scared.
Tengo miedo. - I'm scared.
Note: "miedo" is used for both masc. and fem. speaker.
