¿Cuántos años tienes? - How old are you? (familiar)
¿Cuánto años tiene? - How old are you? (formal)

Note: Use the "familiar" to ask people you know and children.
Use the "formal" to ask people you don't know, and the elders. (respect)

note: In Spanish we say, "Yo tengo - I have" a certain age.
In English we say, "I am" a certain age.

Yo tengo siete meses. - I am seven years old. (I have)

Yo tengo ocho años. - I am eight years old. (I have)

Yo tengo diecisiete años. - I am seventeen years old.

Yo tengo cuarenta años. - I am forty years old.

Yo tengo ochenta y cuatro años. - I am eighty-four years old.
