In this program you are going to learn how the verbs

desayunar, almorzar, and cenar work in the spanish language.

These verbs mean "to eat breakfast" "to eat lunch" and "to eat dinner".

You do not use "comer - to eat" with these verbs. "To eat" is already

in the verbs meanings. 

   

Question: When do I use the verb "comer"? You use the verb "comer"

when you say things like, 

Yo quiero comer una manzana. - I want to eat an apple.

Yo quiero comer un platano. - I want to eat a bananna.

¿Qué le gustaría comer? - What would you like to eat?

      

Read below to see how you use desayunar, almorzar and cenar.

      

desayunar - to eat breakfast

almorzar - to eat lunch

cenar - to eat dinner

 

Desayuno cereal. - I eat (I am eating) cereal for breakfast.

Almuerzo pollo. - I eat (I am eating) chicken for lunch.

Ceno hamburguesa. - I eat (Past Tense - Pretérito

Desayuné cereal.  - I ate cereal for breakfast.

Almorcé pollo. - I ate chicken for lunch.

Cené hamburguesa. - I ate a hamburger for dinner.

    

Desayuné en la mañana. - I ate breakfast in the morning.

Almorcé en la día. - I ate breakfast in the afternoon. 

Cené en la tarde. - I ate dinner in the afternoon(evening).

       

     

¿Qué le gustaría desayunar? - What would you like to eat for breakfast?

¿Qué le gustaría almorzar? - What would you like to eat for lunch?

¿Qué le gustaría cenar? - What would you like to eat for dinner? 

        

¿Qué quieres desayunar? - What do you want to eat for breakfast?

¿Qué quieres almorzar? - What do you want to eat for lunch?

¿Qué quieres cenar? - What do you want to eat for dinner?

     

¿Qué quisiera desayunar? - What do you wish to eat for breakfast?
¿Qué quisiera almorzar? - What do you wish to eat for lunch?

¿Qué quisiera cenar? - What do you wish to eat for dinner?

    

Yo como pollo. - I eat chicken. (I am eating chicken)

Yo comí pollo. I ate chicken.

Yo comí el pollo. - I ate the chicken.

     

Yo como una manzana. - I eat an apple. (I am eating an apple.)

Yo comí una manzana. - I ate an apple.
