Querer - To Want
This video is the conjugation of the verb "querer - to want".

Verbs are action words.

Spanish verbs have three different endings. "ar" "er" 'ir"

"Querer" is an "er" verb and it is conjugated differently than the "ir" and "ar" verbs.

In this lesson, it is important to remember that:
Yo quiero - "I want" can either be said with or without the pronoun "yo".
tú quieres - "you want" can be said with or without the pronoun "tú".

"él quiere - he wants" can be said with or without the pronoun "él".
"ella quiere - she wants" can be said with or without the pronoun "ella".
"usted quiere - you want" can be said with or without the pronoun "usted(ud.)".

"nosotros queremos - we want" can be said with or without the pronoun "nosotros".

éllos quieren - "they(m) want" can be said with or without the pronoun "éllos".
ellas quieren - "they(f) wantot; can be said with or without the pronoun "ellas".
Ustedes quieren - "you want (pl) can be said with or without the pronoun "ustedes(uds.)".

yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, éllos, ellas and ustedes are called "pronouns".

I think it's a good idea to use the pronouns in front of the verb while you are beginning to learn. Once you get better and more comfortable with verbs and the understanding of the pronouns, then take off the pronoun and just use the verb itself. But do what feels comfortable.

For example: "Yo quiero la llave." - "I want the key.". (with the pronoun)
"Quiero la llave." - "I want the key." (without the pronoun)

¿Quieres tú la llave? - Do you want the key? (with the pronoun)
¿Quieres la llave? - Do you want the key? (without the pronoun)

The verb "quiere" has three pronouns. "él, ella and usted" - "he, she and you(formal)
él quiere - he wants
ella quiere - she wants
usted quiere - you want (one person, formal)

Él quiere un coche nuevo. - He wants a new car. but the pronoun "él" is not necessary.
"Quiere un coche nuevo." - He wants a new car.

If you don't speak the pronoun and just speak the verb "quiere" the only way you know how the speaker is using the verb "quiere" is through the context of the conversation that you are speaking or writing.

For example: If you are talking about "Jack" and then say in the conversation, "He wants a new car.", then you already know you are talking about a boy, so when you say "quiere' you know you are using the verb "quiere" as "he wants".

If you are speaking about Josephine in a conversation and then it is said, "She wants a new television.", then you know you are talking about a girl when you say, "quiere" you know you are using the verb "quiere" as"she wants".

but if you just started the conversation and don't use a pronoun and say, "Quiere un coche nuevo." I wouldn't know who we are talking about, but if you said, "Jack quiere un coche nuevo.", then I know we are speaking about Jack and everytime you say, "quiere" I would already know that we are using the verb "quiere" as "he needs."

"quieren - they want"
There are three pronouns with the verb "quieren" "éllos, ellas and ustedes" - they(m) they(f) and you((pl)formal)

éllos quieren - they want (masculine)
ellas quieren - they want (feminine)
Ustedes quieren - you want (many people, formal)

For example: "Éllos quieren los llaves. - They(m) want the keys."
"Quieren los llaves. - They(m) want the keys."

"Ellas quieren los llaves. - They(f) want the keys."
"Quieren los llaves. - They(f) want the keys."

"Ustedes quieren los llaves. - You (all of you formal) want keys."
"Quieren los llaves. - You (many people, formal) want the keys."

If you are speaking about boys and girls together you use the pronoun "ellos".
If they(girls and boys) want the books, then you say "Ellos quieren los libros. - They want the books.".
In English we say, "hey guys" grouping boys and girls together. That is the same thing when there are boys and girls
together you use "ellos", but when they are all girls, you use "ellas".
