This program will teach you the difference between
singular adjectives, plural adjectives and nouns.
You will also learn to ask the question if something
is new or old,  on or off, etc.

Adjectives (adjectives describe nouns)

In this program you will practice the
singular and plural form of adjectives.
limpio - clean (singular/masculine)
limpia - clean (singular/feminine)
limpios - clean (plural/masculine)
limpias - clean (plural/feminine)
viejo - old (singular/masculine)
vieja - old (singular/feminine)
viejos - old (plural/masculine)
viejas - old (plural/feminine)
If the noun is singular/masculine,
the adjective needs an "o" ending.
El coche es viejo.
If the noun is plural/masculine,
the adjective needs an "os"ending.
Los coches son viejos.
If the noun is singular/feminine
the adjective needs an, "a" ending.
La camioneta es vieja.
If the noun is plural/feminine,
the adjective needs the "as" ending.
Las camionetas son viejas.
Question: How do you know when the adjective needs
an "a" or an "o" ending?
Answer: Take notice of the ending of the "nouns".
If the "noun" ends in "o", then the adjective must agree with the noun and also end in an "o".
If the "noun" ends in an "a", then the adjective must end in an "a" too.
The noun "la cocina" ends in an "a", so adjectives
will end in an "a" describing the kitchen.
La cocina está limpia. - The kitchen is clean.
La cocina está sucia. - The kitchen is dirty.
El coche está limpio. - The car is clean.
El coche está sucio. The car is dirty.
Question: Will all adjectives end in "a" or "o"
Answer: There are some exceptions.
example.
"grande - big" ends in "e".
"grande" is used for both feminine and masculine nouns.
El árbol es grande. - The tree is big.
La piscina es grande. - The pool is big.
Los árboles son grandes. - The trees are big.
Las piscinas son grandes. - The pools are big.
Question: How do you know when to add
the "as" or "os" to the end of the adjectives?
Answer" If nouns are plural, you add the "os" or the "as"
Las cocinas están sucias. - The kitchens are dirty.
Las cocinas están limpias. - The kitchens are clean.
Los coches están sucios. - The cars are dirty.
Los coches están limpios. - The cars are clean
Below is another example of a singular/masculine noun
and the adjective agreeing with the noun.
el armario - the closet (noun)
El armario abierto. - The open closet.
Because "el armario" ends in an "o", the adjective "abierto" agrees
with the noun by ending in an "o" too.
El armario cerrado. - The closed closet.
El armario sucio. - The dirty closet.
El armario limpio. - The clean closet
La puerta cerrada. - The closed door.
La puerta sucia.- The dirty door.
La puerta limpia. - The clean door.
If the noun is plural then the adjectives need to be plural too.
example: plural/masculine
Los armarios cerrados. - The closed closets
Los armarios sucios - The dirty closets.
Los armarios limpios - The clean closets.
example: plural/feminine
Las puertas cerradas.  - The closed doors.
Las puertas sucias. - The dirty doors.
Las puertas limpias. - The clean doors.
Question: Why did you use "las" in "las puertas" why not "los"?
Answer: I used "las" because I know "las puertas is the plural of "la puerta".
and "Los armarios" is the plural of "el armario".
For example
El amario sucio. - The dirty closet.
Los amarios sucios. - The dirty closets.
Question: When do you use "es, son" or "está, están"?
Answer: There are specific rules for using the verb forms "ser and estar".
If you want to learn the rules of "ser" and "estar",
go to Chapter Four- Ser vs. Estar.
